313rd
“We kind of put it together to see if people really needed it,” says Raji Bedi, the man behind 313rd.com. The website was created two years ago in hopes of shedding some light on Metro Detroit’s hot places to dine, dance and have fun. For Bedi, a graduate from the University of Michigan, the site was something that was missing from the city. “I had offers for jobs in other cities, but I chose to stay here,” says the 24 year old economics major. It was then that Bedi realized something was missing. “I wanted to see what Detroit had to offer,” Bedi admits, “but I couldn’t find out what was going on.” It was this idea that led to the development of 313rd.com. The website is the first of its kind in the city and finally gives Detroiters a place to find events, restaurants and parties without playing the guessing game when deciding what to do for the evening. The website is easy to navigate and even has the locations of the events mapped out for the patrons traveling from different cities. Bedi and his team of 3 developers believe this is the best way to present the information. “We are in the business of promoting,” adds Bedi. The site has a directory of nearly 10,000 places to dine, dance and have fun, some of which benefit greatly from the exposure of the site. It is a good situation for the patron as well as the business. The city has plenty of attractions and this virtual marketplace is the connection that bridges the gap for people looking for a good time in and around the city even for the New Year. 313rd is having a New Year’s Eve party at the Hard Rock Café right in the heart of downtown Detroit. The party doesn’t stop until 4am with a cash bar available the whole night. It’s a great chance to mix and mingle with people from all over the place. “We’ve got people coming from West Bloomfield, Farmington, Detroit, even Chicago,” says Bedi. This will be a good event to show everyone that Detroit has a vibrant nightlife and to get people excited about their city. “We need people to stay in the city.” Bedi suggests. “We need people to be happy in the city.” For more information visit www.313rd.com - Q.
