Inside Look: Jermaine Foxx of Volpe Life
“We don’t follow trends; we don’t listen to what the stars are wearing. We help to develop YOU and your individual image,” says the up and coming fashion consultant, Jermaine Foxx of Volpe Life.
Please describe your personal style.
“I am bold with a little bit of classic cool. Sexy in a masculine way, unlike a lot of this new age androgyny in a lot of fashion today. If there was movie character that could give you a visual, it would have to be ‘Rusty’ from ‘Oceans 13’. I'm the black version. (Laughs).” What is your least favorite piece of clothing? Why? “Dickies! If you are not at work at the warehouse or any industrial job, you shouldn't be wearing Dickies period!” What is the significant foundation of Volpe Life? “To help people develop that person inside that is bold, confident and stylish. And to bring that person to surface that is hiding behind whatever so-called shortcoming or insecurities that could be holding them back.” Why do some guys have a hard time pursuing their own style? “The hidden insecurities of a man. Most guys believe in what they can’t wear instead of the opposite. Most men believe they won’t look like the stars on T.V., so they don’t even put up an effort.” What is the sexiest item a woman can wear? “High heel stilettos pumps” What are five things you cannot live without? “My BlackBerry, my lifeline! ESPN. God. My family. The fruit market. I’m a health-food junkie!” What inspires you to wake up and do you? “God only made one of me and I am here for a reason bigger than just wading through life as an average Joe. I am destined for something special even if that's helping just one person, that one person could be the next big thing and I helped him to his greatness.” Why should men care about fashion or the way they look? “Men should care because it has a domino effect which will upgrade his entire lifestyle. If a man can put that much effort into how he looks and be successful at it, he can use that same attitude towards health, relationships, a career and just about any daily life situation.” What should every man have in their closet? “A nice, cotton, white dress shirt. The possibilities are endless.” What advice do you have for young men and grooming? “Make an effort to present yourself with confidence. Most young men dress to please the people closest to them instead of to better themselves. Do it to please you first and the others will follow! Also, don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone.
